Hunter Museum of American Art
Chattanooga is one of our favorite southern cities. It’s big enough to have many things to do and small enough to feel cozy. While it has an amazing outdoor scene, it also has a rich art scene. The Hunter Museum of American Art is never a disappointment.
The masterpieces to view begin outside in the sculpture garden. I love the diversity of the sculptures and the placement of each one is just perfect. My favorite part of the sculpture garden is the CALDER sculpture.. CALDER! I’m obsessed with his work.
After entering the museum, you’ll discover that the Hunter collection is quite impressive. From Marisol Escobar and her friend Andy Warhol, to Jacob Lawrence, there are so many of my favorites in one spot!
I’d like to add a special shoutout to John Woodrow Wilson. His Martin Luther King, Jr. portrait, purchased by the museum in 2006, is truly stunning.
